Description:
The case involved a middle age woman who was driving eastbound on Highway 12 near Orono, Minnesota. The defendant lost control of their semi-tractor trailer and proceeded into the eastbound lanes. The front end of the plaintiff's car collided with the right side wheels on the defendant's tractor, as it was sideways in her lane. Negligence against the defendant trucking company was based on excessive speed, failure to keep the tractor trailer under control and the tractor brakes that were seriously out of adjustment.

She was diagnosed with an intracranial hemorrhage.

The case involved a young woman who was struck by a hockey puck at a high school game. The woman was a cheerleader for her high school, and traveled to the Wayzata High School hockey arena for a game. Just before the end of the first period, a player hit a slap shot, which ricocheted into the stands where the woman was seated. She sustained a head injury. Investigation revealed that alterations to the stands to install locker rooms underneath them had resulted in eliminating essentially all protection provided by the Plexiglass surrounding the rink. The matter was settled at trial for $600,000.00.

A 55-year-old woman who was partially paralyzed due to chronic illnesses was being transported in her wheelchair by medical van to a doctor's appointment. The van's seatbelt was not properly secured, and the woman was thrown from her wheelchair when the van suddenly braked to avoid a collision. She suffered comminuted fractures of both femurs, had a long and complicated hospitalization, and lost some of the limited mobility that she still had before the accident.
