Multiple Orthopedic Injuries
Description:
A 22-year-old woman who had just completed a college degree in
engineering was hit head on by a driver who crossed the center line on a rural two-lane highway in northern Minnesota. She sustained fractures of both legs and one arm, all of which required open reduction and internal fixation with surgical hardware. Her ability to work as an engineer was not impaired, but she was left with some permanent functional limitations.
