William Sieben Voted “Top Personal Injury Attorney” for Second Year

Minnesota Law & Politics
April 2002

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – For the second consecutive year William R. Sieben received the most peer-votes in Minnesota Law & Politics’ annual list of “Minnesota’s Top 40 Personal Injury Lawyers.” The list of top 40 lawyers is voted on by over 13,500 of Minnesota attorneys and appears in an issue dedicated to personal injury law. This is the eleventh consecutive year that Sieben, shareholder in the law firm of Schwebel, Goetz & Sieben, has been voted to the list.

Commenting on his election, Sieben said, “It’s gratifying to have professional recognition, of course. But it’s especially rewarding that it comes from my colleagues. In any profession, it’s your peers who are your toughest critics.”

Fellow Shareholder, James Schwebel congratulated his colleague saying, “There’s no doubt that Bill deserved this honor. He has proven himself again and again throughout the years in advocating for his clients and working hard to make sure that they receive just compensation for their injuries. But what most people remember is his integrity and the fact that he takes a genuine personal interest in his clients apart from their legal issues.”

Sieben was also recognized as one of just 44 personal injury lawyers in Minnesota named to Woodward & White’s list of “Best Lawyers in America” in 2000. He has received an “AV” rating by The Martindale Hubbell Law Directory. This rating, the highest achievable, recognizes legal ability, faithful adherence to ethical standards, professional reliability, and diligence. William Sieben is also certified as a Civil Trial Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy; an exclusive certification based on peer review and written examination.

A native of Hastings, Minnesota, Sieben received his Political Science degree with honors from St. Cloud State University in 1973 and a law degree from William Mitchell College of Law in 1977. Before beginning his career in law, he served on Walter Mondale’s Senate Staff, and was a White House Assistant to the Vice President during the Carter Administration. He returned to Minnesota, and in 1980 joined Schwebel & Associates as a personal injury lawyer. In 1983, he became a principal shareholder and the firm was renamed Schwebel, Goetz & Sieben.

Also voted to the list of “Minnesota’s Top 40 Personal Injury Lawyers” were Paul Godlewski, Peter Riley, James Schwebel, Sharon Van Dyck and Candace Dale. All are fellow attorneys with the firm Schwebel, Goetz & Sieben. The list appeared in Minnesota Law & Politics Magazine, April/May 2002 edition.

With 18 lawyers and more than 80 support staff, Schwebel, Goetz & Sieben is the largest law firm in Minnesota specializing exclusively in personal injury litigation.
