SG&S Attorney Certified as Civil Trial Specialist

Press Release
February 2002

MINNEAPOLIS, February 1, 2002– The law firm of Schwebel, Goetz & Sieben, P.A. announced today that James R. Schwebel has been board certified by The Minnesota State Bar Association as a Civil Trial Specialist. This certification recognizes attorneys who specialize in civil trial law and meet the board’s exacting standards for professional expertise and ethics.

Once qualified, Mr. Schwebel had to undergo a rigorous approval process. He had to demonstrate substantial experience in civil trial law, submit professional references, demonstrate competence in legal writing, prove continuing legal education, and complete a one-day examination. Each year special council will review Mr. Schwebel certification.

In 1974, Jim Schwebel founded what is now Minnesota’s largest law practice specializing in personal injury litigation. Jim was one of the first attorneys in Minnesota to be certified as a Civil Trial Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He was also chosen for membership on the American Board of Trial Advocates. Jim was appointed by the Minnesota Supreme Court to serve on the Board of Professional Responsibility and on the Board of Law Examiners.

Jim successfully represented victims of the MGM Hotel fire in Las Vegas and the Williams Pipeline explosion in Roseville. In addition, he was appointed by the Court as a member of the Plaintiff’s liability Committee to handle claims for many Minnesotans who lost family members in the Galaxy Airlines crash in Reno, Nevada. Jim brings over 30 years of expertise in the service of his clients and their families who have suffered serious injury or the loss of a loved one.

Schwebel, Goetz & Sieben, P. A. is the largest law firm in Minnesota specializing exclusively in personal injury litigation. With 18 lawyers and more than 80 support staff, it provides personal, specialized service from initial investigation through settlement, trial or appeal.
