Schwebel, Goetz & Sieben Paralegal Heather Erickson Elected to Director of Professional Development for the Minnesota Paralegal Association

November 2020

Heather EricksonMinneapolis, MN, November 2020 – Personal injury law firm Schwebel, Goetz & Sieben is pleased to announce paralegal Heather Erickson has been elected by her peers to the position of Director of Professional Development for the Minnesota Paralegal Association. Heather has been a member of both The Minnesota Paralegal Association (MPA) and the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA) since late 2018 and became a voting member of the MPA in 2019.

Heather’s legal career began at Midwest Disability where she prepared client cases for hearings with Administrative Law Judges across the country. After four years, she accepted a position with TSR Injury Law working with attorney Jennifer Olson. In 2018, Heather followed Jennifer as her paralegal when they both joined Schwebel, Goetz & Sieben.

When Heather became a voting member of the MPA it was an important time as the state of Minnesota began rolling out and working to pilot a program that allows more legal representation through paralegals.

Heather elaborated on her decision, “I knew this would be an opportunity to grow with the ever-changing technical world and legal world at the same time. In 2020, when nominated for a director position, I knew this was much more than just a volunteer opportunity and in fact, my passion. It is my duty to not let my peers down, or my community, and rise to a better tomorrow.”

The Minnesota Paralegal Association was formed in 1974 and is affiliated with the National Federation of Paralegal Associations. MPA is one of the founding NFPA associations.

MPA is a voluntary, non-profit professional association composed of paralegals living or working in the state of Minnesota who are dedicated to fostering the growth and development of the paralegal profession by promoting a high standard of professionalism and ethics to the legal community as well as the general public. The MPA is committed to supporting the ongoing education and professional development of paralegals; maintaining relevancy in a changing world; and encouraging pro bono or community service involvement through MPA or other non-profit organizations.

Jim Schwebel, founding partner of Schwebel, Goetz & Sieben said, “A very special Congratulations to Heather for having just been voted by her peers to be the new Director of Professional Development for the Minnesota Paralegal Association.  This evidences their awareness of Heather’s professionalism, competency, and leadership.  It is exciting to have one of us at SG&S achieve this acknowledgment.”
