Matt Barber works to shape the law to protect future clients

We’re proud to recognize one of our appellate attorneys, Matt Barber, for his work in the Court of Appeals decision on Honcik v. American Family Mutual Insurance Company. Writing on behalf of the Minnesota Association for Justice, Barber helped the court reach an important conclusion: when a government vehicle is immune from liability under common law, as was the case with the snowplow involved here, it may still qualify as an uninsured motor vehicle. This allows injured individuals to pursue uninsured motorist benefits through their own motor vehicle insurance.

This decision is a win for people injured in accidents involving immune government vehicles, helping ensure they have a path to recover benefits that otherwise may not have been available.
