Attorney Cody C. Scharpf Welcomed as New Member of the American Board of Trial Advocates
August 2024
Minneapolis, MN – August 2024 – The law firm of Schwebel, Goetz, & Sieben is pleased to announce the selection of attorney Cody C. Scharpf to the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). ABOTA is dedicated to the preservation of the civil jury trial and abides by a motto of “Justice by the People.”
ABOTA seeks attorneys who exhibit both skill, civility, and integrity. Its attorneys assist younger lawyers with higher degrees of trial advocacy. The organization also strives to educate the public about the importance of the Seventh Amendment.
Cody exemplifies the qualities of experienced ABOTA attorneys. She is actively involved in the legal community as a member of the Minnesota Association for Justice and Minnesota Women Lawyers. Cody has been recognized as a Minnesota Super Lawyer Rising Star for 3 years in a row, and is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association (MSBA), Wisconsin State Bar Association and North Dakota State Bar Association.
ABOTA membership is by invitation only, and dependent on numerous criteria including the ability for any applicant to list 10 civil jury trials that went to a jury verdict or hung jury as lead counsel. Members must also practice to the highest degree of ethical conduct.
Cody’s experience as an attorney includes all aspects of personal injury litigation including car and truck collisions, motorcycle crashes and general liability cases. Before joining Schwebel, Goetz & Sieben, Cody worked as a law clerk while she obtained her Juris Doctor in 2015 from William Mitchell College of Law. She received her undergraduate degree from Minnesota State University with a B.S. in Paralegal with an emphasis in Criminal & Civil litigation and Commercial Law.
Although part of Cody’s early career was working as a defense attorney for insurance companies, she always knew that she wanted to return to representing plaintiffs at some point. Her defense experience helped Cody learn what insurance companies are looking for and enables her to get great results for her clients. Since 2020, Cody has dedicated her practice to solely representing individuals who were injured due to no fault of their own.
